Specialist Switchgear Systems Ltd – striving for sustainable ethical and environmental practices

Ethics and the environment are important to us and we know they’re important to you too. We make every effort to reduce our impact on the environment and to promote good environmental practice in all we do and, on site and off.

We are fully committed to making a positive contribution to the well-being of our employees, customers and community, as well as the planet. While we know we’ve some way to go, we are making concerted efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and minimise our impact on the environment. The story so far is as follows:

Improving energy efficiency – wherever possible, we’re using energy efficient lighting and we’ve recently upgraded our vehicle fleet to more efficient versions of the previous older models.

Working to use less fuel – if at all possible, we use overnight deliveries and work with suppliers to make improvements alongside them.

Recycling and waste – All our cardboard is recycled through sorting on-site, it is then collected to be recycled and responsibly managed. We are currently seeking a recycling partner who can convert damaged pallets and wood packaging into wood chippings for gardens.

Sustainable procurement – while it’s not universal, wherever possible we now use recyclable alternatives to plastic packaging, such as packaging with paper pulp inners, paper tape, potato starch bags and craft paper, and hope that in so doing we can help your business meet its own sustainability policy requirements, creating habits and practices we can be proud of.
